Don Lee is a relative newcomer to the wonderful world of
web site operators, but he is definitely no neophyte to the
Internet. Don first started using a PC at work in 1986, he has
had a home PC continuously since 1987 and, as he puts it, “I was using
e-mail regularly long before it became fashionable!”
Don’s career has been based in the high- technology field. Of
course that statement covers a host of sins, so more specifically he
has been involved primarily in electronics communications with a fairly
heavy overlay of military applications at various times. Although
he started out as a hands-on technician, he moved over to the
commercial side of the business quite early and most of his career has
embraced sales and marketing in one form or another. This also
means that he has done a lot of traveling over the years, and he says
that he has been very lucky to have been able to visit a good part of
the world at other people’s expense. His travels have taken him
to most of North America, much of Europe, a good part of South America,
and Australia and New Zealand. For three years in the late 90s he
traveled through the Far East regularly, and to quote him again, “If
you want to have fun, try visiting much of Asia as a six-foot-one
Caucasian carrying around the surname Lee!”
Against this varied background, Don also characterizes himself as
something of a seeker, particularly in the realm of personal growth and
self improvement. It is this interest that ultimately gave rise
to the idea of starting a web site based on ‘Stuff That Helps”.
For the most part, what he showcases on his web site falls generally
into the self-improvement category, although other stuff that helps may
include links to anything from weather radar data to dictionary sites.
Don’s base of operations (i.e. home!) is in Carleton Place, Ontario,
just southwest of Canada’s capital of Ottawa.
